Embracing the imperfect

Though it’s technically imperfect, this photo resonates with me. Maybe it’s because you can’t tell whether it was taken five days ago, or fifty years ago… it goes beyond the simple visual record and is more of an emotional record.

For the record: I captured this photo during Sharonna and Derek’s fabulous wedding at The Four Seasons Austin last weekend while second shooting with the equally fabulous Shannon of Shannon Cunningham Photography.

may flower girl

A flower girl from Laura and Mark’s wedding at the Four Seasons that I second shot with Sherry of Sherry Hammonds Photography back in May.

(nerd tech info: Shot on Fuji Pro 400H film with my father’s old manual Minolta SRT MC-II 35mm — the same camera I’ve played with since I was eight years old.. which makes that camera, and me now, pretty old. As fun as digital is, something tells me that my son won’t be poking around with my 5D in 20 years… but that Minolta will probably still be around, and it will still be able to make gorgeous images.)
