I had the opportunity to shoot Hallie’s casual senior photos when we were in Memphis several weeks ago… yes, Memphis…. Tennessee? Elvis?  Bar-be-que?  Mississippi River?  Does any of this ring a bell?  My wife hails from Memphis, Tennessee, and her family still lives there. So, naturally, we visit on a pretty regular basis.

Anyway, Hallie’s mom had contacted me a few months back and told me that her daughter was really into soul music, and that she wanted to take some photos in front of the old Stax Records (which, if you’re not familiar, was the recording company responsible for Otis Redding and some other pretty big names back in the day)… and, oh yeah, she also mentioned that Hallie had a vintage VW Bug too. Say no more! Sign me up!

What can I say about the Parker / Bowman’s? You guys rock my world. If a pack of wild dogs ate my family as a kid and I was left as orphan, I would have so wanted you to adopt me.  Come to think of it, I still want you to adopt me…

It was such a pleasure working with Jennifer (can I call you mom?) and her family, and I’m so honored that they chose me to capture the spirit of their close-knit family.

While I’m waiting for the adoption papers to go through, I thought I’d show some photos from The Parker / Bowman’s family photo shoot downtown Austin.   Enjoy!

The first time I met Angelica and Stroud was on the day of their family photo session. And when we showed up at the location that we had planned on, we found that it was being prepped for a wedding.  Yikes!  But sometimes plan B works out better than plan A; and a spot that I would have overlooked on any other day turned into the perfect backdrop for a perfect little family photo shoot… (added benefit: an awesome soundtrack to shoot to thanks to the bluegrass wedding band warming up).

I met up with Susan and Matt down on South Congress one fine crisp cool autumn morning not too long ago to shoot their engagement photos. It’s always funny when I first start shooting, because more than likely my subjects are a tad nervous. And I like to tell them that I’m a tad nervous too (because I usually am), and that it’ll wear off soon. Well, let’s just say it didn’t take long for these two to unleash the fire.

I shot Stacey and Nigel’s utterly fantastic wedding at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin last Saturday. What a gorgeous venue! What a lovely day! What an awesome couple! What an insane party!  My head is still spinning…

I just couldn’t help myself — I had to show off some of Stacey’s gorgeous details!  Love love love the birdcage veil and her gorgeous bouquet!

Jessica and I went down to the Pecan Street Festival (first and last time – it was pretty lame) this past weekend and popped in to Max’s Wine Dive for lunch while we were downtown.  This is the Texas “Haute“ Dog with Texas Prairie Fire Chili (along with the requisite beer).  Crazy good.
