Though it’s technically imperfect, this photo resonates with me. Maybe it’s because you can’t tell whether it was taken five days ago, or fifty years ago… it goes beyond the simple visual record and is more of an emotional record.

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and even though Austin is now my home, I always jump at the opportunity to head back to Illinois. Here are a few photos from the 94th floor of the Hancock Center, taken during a recent trip to Chicago.

Hope everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend. Jessica and I packed up our dog and drove down to the coast for a great little beach getaway with friends. I packed way too many cameras, and in the end, I just shot photos on my iPhone / Hipstamatic. Sometimes simple is better – especially on vacation.
