High Museum of Art in Atlanta, circa 1999

It’s hard to believe I shot this image over a decade ago.  Frankly, it’s hard to believe I’m that old (breached the big “3-0″ this year). When this was taken, I was a sophomore at the University of Georgia. I was enrolled in a photojournalism class (and pretty sure I wanted to be a photojournalist).

It’s funny how, even then, things were moving away from the darkroom.  We still had analog capture — I shot film (pretty sure this was Kodak T-Max 400) in my Minolta 35 mm camera — but after we processed the film, we scanned all of our images into digital format with a dedicated film scanner.

This has been one of my favorite images from my earlier days as a photographer.  And I love the fact that it’s shot on film. Should my hard drive get wiped out (and all my backups fail), I’ve still got the film — ready to be scanned and brought back to life.
